Hardball gone global…
Nineteen-hour flights to the Far East and Mideast are important for baseball players and investment bankers alike. The Red Sox and Yankees are global entertainment companies, with the baseball team a core but lesser subsidiary. In turn, America is now a business-first (entertainment) enterprise, with the military and law playing a supporting role. Just ask the Sunni, Shia or Emir of Dubai, we have to keep growing the brand! Meanwhile, it’s $40K extra for a week of asian pomp and ceremony in Tokyo. Maybe the Arabs should adopt the diffident but acquiescent posture of Paul Giammatti, aka John Adams, at a french dinner party, and put up with our excesses on the road to building their own free societies.
